As a practitioner of Western Medical Acupuncture, I use the priciples of modern anatomy, physiology, and neurophysiology when treating patients. The British Medical Acupuncture Society, founded in 1980 by Dr J Kenyon, is a nationwide group of Doctors who practise acupuncture alongside more conventional techniques. Electroacupuncture is available and will be offered in suitable cases. 
The simultaneous combination of hypnosis and acupuncture in a treatment session is a very powerful management method, though rarely available in the U.K.. It is possible to potentiate the effects of treatment with hypnosis by using acupuncture simultaneously, and it is also possible to potentiate the effects of Acupuncture treatment by using hypnosis.
